The Federal Ministry had wished from the beginning that the test event allows an optimal participation of the involved industries, almost all of which are member of the German standardization organisation DIN. There is a special DIN mirror group for ISO/IEC JTC1/SC17/WG3, i.e. the ISO link to ICAO TAG MRTD, being responsible for the approval of ICAO Recommendations on Machine Readable Travel Documents.

Due to the good cooperation between the German Government and DIN, the Federal Ministry asked DIN to take over the organisation of the ePassport interoperability test event on its behalf, whereas the detailed contents of the testing and of the workshop are being arranged by the Federal Ministry itself.
